*Sigh*
Of course Coldstone would come out with a special Ghirardelli chocolate flavor of ice cream during the year when I give up chocolate for Lent.

I didn't go to classes today. I had a signed letter of excuse from the Provost.
Instead, I had to go march in the Governor's inauguration parade in Jackson, MS. Talk about fun.
Riding over 2 hours on a bus just to march in a circle where there couldn't have been more that 300 people watching (and that's being very very generous and counting the people looking out of their office building windows on the 15th floor). Add to that the fact that there is a hill in this parade. I'm not talking about a gentle slope. It's such a hill that it reminded me of driving up the mountain towards Section. It was pretty funny trying to watch the bass drums perform their usual swinging with the beats, while climbing this hill. Let's say that the largest bass drummer has a bad back and couldn't do it and had to have someone take his bass drum off to go up the hill.
I slept almost the entire bus ride. That was kind of a waste, since I was on one of the university buses. I am so jealous of the football players and the athletics groups that get those buses on a regular basis, instead of the general charter buses like the band takes. I mean, yes our buses are new and pretty nice, but they don't have satellite tv, 3 XM radios, mp3 players, wireless internet, and individual headsets for each seat.
Busloads 1-3 were lucky enough to get a university bus, but buses 4-6 had to have the general charter buses. At least I got to ride in one of those buses once!
Now back to classes and work. Ugh.

Whoever came up with the production for Josh Groban's Christmas album is a genius.
This CD has the best version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" that I've ever heard. I tear up every time I hear it. At the beginning of the song instead of lyrics there are recorded messages from American soldiers overseas. In the middle there's a message from a woman missing her 4-yr old daughter's Christmas. It ends with a little kid leaving a message for his dad, telling him that his family is wrapping presents and they're saving one just for him.
It's so sweet. Mix in Josh Groban's smooth voice in with all of these messages and it saves it from being too corny. It definitely gets my vote for best Christmas song of the year.

I'll take a short time-out from my own roommate issues to post a video of some other MSU roommates.
This is what happens when 1 out of 4 roommates attends a different college that gets a full week out for Thanksgiving break. You don't want to leave your 3 roommates there all alone for days. Whenever all 4 roommates are college age guys, you should really expect something to be up when you come back.
The college student side of me loves this prank. The housing employee in me is dreaming of what could have happened if a spark happened. Either way, you have to admit that these guys really pulled it off!

KKPsi formal is tonight. Our Alumni picnic this afternoon wasn't too bad, except for the fact that none of our alumni showed up. We had bad thunderstorms last night and this morning, so most of the alumni who were going to come assumed that the picnic was going to be canceled. Luckily for us, the sun came out just in time to dry up the ground a little and provide us with some warm sunshine for our day. We all ate until we were full and there's still plenty of food left, so we're going to have dinner at our meeting tomorrow night.
Unfortunately, it looks as if we're going to have rain during our formal. I hope not, since I'm wearing my prom dress from my senior year of high school. Mom played around with it, so it looks a little more "grown-up" I guess. I'll try to get some pictures up. =)

You know what's great? (Although admitedly not as great as getting a new nephew. Congrats Julie!)
Having your first class of the day canceled and getting to sleep until 12:20. My first class isn't until 12:30, but since it's right down the hallway, I can get ready, make a short lj post to let you all know that I'm still alive, and get there in less than 10 minutes. :)
I can register this afternoon for fall classes. I have to wait until 2. That means that I'll be at work. Most of my classes still have at least 20 seats open, but one English course that I really need/want only has 9 seats left. Hopefully it won't fill up in the next 1 and 1/2 hours!

Tuesday's Honors Forum class was the best college class I've had yet!
Picture is here
(You can barely see me. I'm behind the two guys w/ their backs to the camera. No, I'm not that short. I was just standing on a deeper part of the river bottom.)
Now I'm packing my car, going to work, then headed home for the weekend! :)

Agh!
Buzzer shots are great...if you're the one making them.
I guess it's even. We knocked Kentucky out of the SEC tournament by a buzzer shot in overtime. Now we were knocked out of the NIT finals in New York City by WVU's buzzer shot.
Ugh.

Exact wording on the back of my allergy and sinus medication:
"-excitability may occur
-marked drowsiness may occur"
Great! So I'm going to be one excited sleepy person! This is going to be interesting...
